Remembering Diana Ross - Co-Founder, Breast Cancer Yoga Authority

On January 10, 2015, Diana Ross (not the famous singer), Co-Founder of the Breast Cancer Yoga Authority, passed away.

Diana had battled cancer twice in her life. Several years after she had rebounded from breast cancer and was living an earth friendly life including a plant based diet, yoga, and alternative therapies, Diana was diagnosed with lung cancer. She maintained a healthy lifestyle, published a book and stayed optimistic throughout her struggle.

Diana brought joy and spiritual happiness into the lives of so many people, including me. Her spirit remains with me.

Essential Oils Backache Blend Recipe

Below is a recipe using essential oils to quell backaches. The oils used are soothing and balancing. Lavender is relaxing. Lemon is balancing and rosemary is great for pain.

Essential Oils Backache Blend

• 15 drops lavender essential oil
• 5 drops lemon essential oil
• 10 drops rosemary essential oil

Blend above essential oils into 1 oz carrier oil, such as almond oil. Massage into affected area of back as needed.
OR
Bedtime Remedy - Add a few drops to warm bath water and soak for 10-20 minutes.

Aromatherapy Diffuser Wear Necklaces - Tree Ornaments

I am not one to make a big deal about holidays - never have been - nor were my parents.
So, when it comes to holiday ideas and gifts, I am behind the eight ball.
Today, it was suggested to me that our diffuser necklaces would not only make great stocking stuffers, but would be great tree ornaments !
Upon hearing this, Tabs suggested putting some pine essential oil in a diffuser necklace and hanging it from a holiday pine tree. Tis the season !
That said, my mind started racing. How about several diffuser necklaces hanging on a holiday pine tree, each with a different holiday season scent - clove, fir, pine, vanilla, cinnamon, orange, peppermint...

We were recently asked to make a design of a girl on the run. As a family of runners, this was a great privilege for us.

We decided to include the Runner Girl pendant diffuser necklace in a larger collection, to focus on the life of the Runner Girl.

Aromatherapy AnyWear now selling in Canada

As the weather gets colder here in Rochester, NY and I am itching to go down South, we are actually selling more in Canada.

As the weather gets cold here in the Northern Hemisphere, people are using the more protective and often aromatic essential oils. Clove and Cinnamon come to mind. These are protective oils and fight germs and flu. Mixed with lemon, rosemary and eucalyptus, clove and cinnamon are combative and can increase the immune system's response to germs.

In staying with this theme, most of us know someone who has (or has had) breast cancer, is going (or has gone) through radiation or even chemotherapy.

How many people are aware of alternative and complementary therapies used to balance and/or improve the quality of life for those with breast cancer ?

Breast Cancer Yoga Authority (BCYA) is an organization devoted entirely to empowering those with breast cancer to increase healing through holistic approaches. Multiple therapeutic wellness therapies, such as nutrition, yoga, aromatherapy, breathing exercises, sound healing, reiki and herbs offer breast cancer patients more tools and options to make a positive difference during the healing process.

Aromatherapy Pendant Diffusers Benefit Breast Cancer Patients

Aromatherapy pendant diffuser necklaces are worn by men and women to feel happier and healthier, especially when conflicted with emotional and physical stress and anxiety. These make great holiday gifts! Consider a Breast Cancer Ribbon pendant for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

As an alternative and complementary therapy, people with cancer and other ailments benefit greatly from aromatherapy scents that smell good to them. An aromatherapy pendant diffuser necklace worn around the neck with a favorite scent in it can be very cheering and relaxing.

Specific scents from pure essential oils which may benefit breast cancer patients as aromatherapy include Frankincense and citrus oils, such as Lime, Lemon, Tangerine, Orange, Grapefruit. These scents work best when estrogen receptors are negative.

With breast cancer patients, diffusing Frankincense may help to relieve anxiety, while citrus oils may be more balancing. Inhaling the scent of Lavender may also relieve anxiety and insomnia, but only when estrogen receptors are negative.

For nausea, citrus and flower scents may be too strong, whereas Peppermint has shown to calm nausea in some breast cancer patients. Not everyone responds the same to a scent. Smell therapy is very personal and subjective, so whether a cancer patient or not, avoid scents you know are not pleasing to you. Stick with the ones that make you feel better.

To enjoy the aromatherapy benefits of essential oils in your diffuser pendant necklace, simply remove the diffuser cork, add the scent to the pendant, dab some on the diffuser cork, gently pop the diffuser cork back on the pendant and wear the necklace around your neck. Some people even use the diffuser pendant necklaces as car diffuser (around the rear view mirror).

Frankincense Essential Oil - Immune Stimulant, Age Spots, Wounds, Wrinkles

Frankincense Essential Oil is considered a magical oil by many. It dates back to biblical days (Old Testament) and was said to be commonly used as a spice and an offering.

Not being particularly steeped in bible knowledge, today Frankincense is used in many ways, including as an immune stimulant and aid in protection against age spots and in healing wounds.

Several studies and websites cite the best use of Frankincense against age spots is to dilute it with a few drops of a carrier oil, such as jojoba, sweet almond, avocado, etc) and dab it on the age spot daily. Other Frankincense proponents say - as long as it's pure - it can be dabbed on neat (no carrier oil) to the age spot to reduce the coloration.

Personally, I use Frankincense neat on wounds and age spots. I dilute Frankincense in a carrier oil - I use 1 oz coconut oil and 2 drops Frankincense, 2 drops Lemon and 2 drops Lavender essential oils - for wrinkles - applied at night. Lemon is photo-toxic, so should not be applied to skin when going out into the sun - 12 hour delay or more suggested..
