Essential Oil Recipes for Shingles

I am no expert on Shingles, but with so many family members coming down with terrible itchy Shingles (a herbes zoster virus), I have done some research to try to help them heal the lesions and ameliorate the itching. I asked several aromatherapists, alternative practitioners and PhDs with experience treating patients using essential oils.

Listed below are the 6 top responses offered to me for recipes to heal the associated itching and virus for Shingles:

1. 50% tamanu and 50% ravensara on the lesions two to three x/day, noticeable improvement in three days.

Rosemary is a heating oil and therefore counteracts anti-inflammatory effects.

2. Lemon - anti-viral properties. Lavender for any itching issues as well as healing the skin Keep it gentle - don't use any hot oils

3. 30 drops of coconut oil as a carrier and using 30 drops of Lavender, 30 drops of Eucalyptus, 30 drops of Melaleuca, and 10 drops of Thyme and apply several times a day

4. A tea tree oil gel with 5 - <10 o:p="" tea="" tree="">

5. If there is pain: Lavender + Clove (diluted) + Melissa. And antivirals: Melaleuca (Tea Tree) alternifolia - undiluted.

6. Lemon, Peppermint, Oregano and Ngai Camphor to reduce pain and encourage healing. Mix with an appropriate carrier oil.

Thanks for reading and if you suffer from Shingles or any other related virus, good luck and please let us know if you try any of these treatment recipes.

Always, Beth

Nasty cold got you down ? How about some essential oils' aromatherapy to perk you up ?

So, the weather throughout the US has been volatile and with volatility, comes colds, respiratory infections and immune system breakdown.
Having used eucalyptus essential oil myself for years as an inhalant under my nose (inhale through each nostril) for when my immune system weakens and sniffles set in, I swear by it.
Eucalyptus essential oil as aromatherapy, while helpful, alone cannot be counted on to cure the common cold or any other virus affecting the respiratory tract.
Thieves Essential Oil Blend is a great immune builder and infection fighter. Try a little in a carrier oil on the bottom of your feet before bedtime.
Maintaining a healthy (plant based, with raw living foods) diet, sleep, and reducing stress and anxiety will help to heal most ills - particularly viruses, such as the common cold, respiratory infections, etc.
Try it and let me know if it helps.
Good luck !
