Essential Oils for Weight Loss

There are several essential oils that are reputed for effective weight loss or at the very least curbing one's appetite.

The ones that come to mind are:

Peppermint - According to Dr. Alan Hirsch, Smell and Taste Treatment and Research Institute of Chicago, peppermint affects the part of the brain that deals with satiety, or feeling full. 

Grapefruit - Aromatherapist Clare Walters from the Art of Health and Yoga Center in London highlights the digestive and diuretic properties of grapefruit oil in "Illustrated Elements of Aromatherapy," . 

Orange - For years, scientists have recognized the connection between scent, mood, and weight.  Our brains are  affected by senses.  When orange and other citrus oils are inhaled, they send signals to our brain that our stomachs are full.  

Lemon - Brain research on the effects aromatherapy has on the brain have discovered that lemon essential oil may fire up the metabolism and fat burning cells.


These can be used in a carrier oil as a massage, sniffed as Aromatherapy or taken in a capsule.
